Dear Friends,
This September,, members of Kuluta and Lamrim Buddhist Centres will walk together with family and friends to raise
money for our building fund. We would like to expand the meditation room at 182 Wellington St. so that more people have
the opportunity to participate and benefit from our meditation classes and programs.
Last year, due to your kindness, we had a matching funds drive that raised over $10,000. This walk is one part of a fundraising plan to raise $15,000 in 2009. We hope to raise half this amount during our Walk for World Peace.
Three ways you can contribute:
- Participate in this enjoyable walk with other Sangha community members . We would like to encourage each walker to raise a minimum of $100 in order to meet our goal. Everyone is welcome to walk regardless of how much money they can raise through sponsorship. There is a long walk of 1.5 hours and a shorter walk of one hour. If you have a dog that would enjoy walking for world peace you can ask someone to sponsor them! That’s a lot of merit for your big-hearted pooch!!
- Consider sponsoring a walker for $10, $25, $50, $100 or more—any amount helps!
- Offer skills and time to help the centre with fundraising and other projects by contacting Kuluta Centre at 613.544.1568.
Where to Meet
We will start the long walk at Ontario Park parking lot. You can leave your car there. We will also shuttle you back after the walk. The short walk begins at the Gazebo.
Everyone needs to gather promptly at 2pm to register and provide your fundraising pledges. We will be walking with our Sangha friends and family and a special guest—Gen Kelsang Thekchen, our National Spiritual Director. When we all arrive at Kuluta Centre we can enjoy part 2 of our event-- afternoon tea and snacks!
T-shirts
If you raise $100 you will receive a lovely t-shirt.
T-shirts will also be sold for $15
How to Register
You can register for this walk and collect a pledge sheet at Kuluta and Lamrim Centres as well as at your branch classes. Registration and a pledge form will also be available on-line.
About Kuluta Buddhist Centre:
We offer a full program of Buddhist meditation classes, in-depth study programs and retreats to help
increase our love, compassion and wisdom. Everyone is welcome to find refuge from the challenges of busy modern life,
receive practical advice from Buddha’s teachings and gain inspiration from spiritual friends both lay and ordained.
Along with our drop-in classes and study programs we offer classes to Correctional Institutes across Eastern Ontario, Queen’s University, high school and grade school students, as well as church groups.
Kuluta Centre is part of the New Kadampa Tradition-International Kadampa Buddhist Union , an international association of Mahayana Buddhist study and meditation centres founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. We are a charitable organization run entirely by volunteers.
