Public Service
Kuluta Buddhist Centre is a public charity dedicated to providing the community with opportunities to learn more about Buddhism and meditation. Everyone can benefit from an internal practice that reduces stress, increases stability of mind, and leads to lasting peace.
Our classes are suited for everyone regardless of religion, background, or lifestyle. Buddhism is applicable to our modern, busy lives, and can easily be integrated and adopted on whatever level feels comfortable. Our programs range from simple, guided lunchtime meditations to in-depth study programs and require no previous experience in order to join. Everyone is welcome.
School visits
We have presented Kadampa Buddhism at Queen’s University as well as a variety of high schools, elementary schools and church groups. The format and content is always suited to the particular audience and we can work with your schedule. Your group is always welcome to attend the centre where a traditional Buddhist shrine serves as a focal point for meditation and discussion.
Prison Chaplaincy
We have provided Buddhist chaplaincy to inmates under a contract with Correctional Services Canada since 2005.
Our aim is to give inmates an opportunity for spiritual development and healing. We offer varying levels of instruction on a weekly basis so that individuals can work with difficulties such as guilt, anger, and depression, in the light of practical Buddhist concepts of love, compassion, and wisdom. It is essential that the spiritual program is positively affecting daily life by increasing inner peace and mental stability.
We are available to work with your health care organization or government agency to develop a program adapted to your specific needs and wishes, for staff or for those you serve.
